It is a great welcome to all of you to the 29th Kent Memorial Lectures, to be held on 4th & 5th September, 2021. All of us are passing through the Pandemic Times, wherein COVID-19, has taken a great toll on all of us. Whereas, the 1st Wave of this Pandemic was an unusual experience for all of us, the 2nd Wave has been much horrifying, to the extent that we find more & more families have seen mortalities, some times 3 or 4 members in the same family, or a number of others whose relatives/acquaintances have said good bye to us. In the second wave, the younger generation has seen more fatalities, including many of Medical Professionals, and at the time of writing this to you, there are different anticipations or speculations about the 3rd Wave. As of now nobody knows what is in store for us.
Last year, due to Covid restrictions, the 28th KML was held in the virtual mode, and it was a unique experience for all of us. However, the participation by the well-known personalities in the profession, helped it conclude on a very satisfactory note. This year again, the situation remains similar, and being a responsible organization, we cannot afford to risk our participants to get exposed to any infection. Hence, the 29th Kent Memorial Lectures, is again being organized on the digital platform for the 2nd time in succession. The show must go on.
“CHALLENGES ARE OPPORTUNITIES”. WITH THIS MOTTO IN MIND, IT WAS DECIDED TO LOOK INTO THE LIKELY FUTURE SCENERIO OF THE HEALTH CARE SYSTEM, AND HOW TO POSITION HOMOEOPATHY ACCORDINGLY. THE GOVERNMENT OF INDIA’S POLICY IS NOW TO INTEGRATE THE HEALTH CARE, AND ENABLE ITS REACH TO THE MAXIMUM POPULATION. HENCE, OUR THEME THIS YEAR IS, “HOMOEO VISION 2030 – INTROSPECT, EVOLVE, & REFORM”. THIS WE FEEL IS THE NEED OF THE HOUR.
Giving this approach a practical shape, we have to understand our Strength, Weakness, Opportunities, as well as Threats. This would necessitate redesigning our curriculums, organise our professional practice whether in individual clinics or in the institutions. It is the responsibilities of the seniors to encourage our young entrants and guide them sincerely. Similarly, our Industry also faces lot of challenges, and we have to understand their problems and devise ways to enable availability of the Homoeopathic Medicines to the last mile.
The dates of KML 2021, coincide with a very important event, “THE TEACHERS’ DAY” being celebrated each year on 5th September, in memory of the 2nd President of India, Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan. What a great opportunity for us to respect our teachers, and respect their contribution to the profession. An e-souvenir is also planned to be published on this occasion paying tributes to our Homoeopathic Teachers, as we are here in the present position because of them.
You can go through the topics’ details, and provide your inputs, suggestions keeping the Theme in Mind. Recollecting the slogan given by Barack Obama, the President of the United States of America, during his election campaign, “YES! WE CAN”, we are confident that together, all of us can make Homoeopathy as a part of the Mainstream Medicine in the Integrative Health Care.
